Elba Island

This area has always been the favourite destination of Italia jetset, with its long beaches and its pinewood. Here the poet Gabriele d'Annunzio spent long time in its estate called "Versilia". Not far you can visit also the Lake Massaciuccoli, Torre del Lago where there is the Giacomo Puccini's house, the old Luni with its pre-Roman escavations. Famous are the spa in Equi Terme and San Giuliano Terme near the Medieval Lucca, where you can admire the church of San Michele in Foro and San Frediano, in the splendid Duomo there is the XVth century grave of Ilaria del
Carretto, a Jacopo della Quercia masterpiece. In Pisa don't miss the Piazza dei Miracoli, the Duomo, the Baptistry and the most famous tower. In the several restaurants or trattorie of Versilia you can taste the delicious boletus of the Garfagnana.
