The Apuan Riviera

The Apuan Riviera included 15 Km. of beaches served by bathing facilities; the stretch is protected by the vegetation and is enclosed into the Apuna Mountain chain. The seaside resorts of Marina di Massa, Marina di Carrara, Ronchi, Poveromo, Cinquale, frequented by tourist since the beginning of this cetury, are set in a splendid natural environment.
The climatic conditions are very good being characterized by short, mild winter as well as by long, temperate summer thanks to the influence of the sea and the bulwark formed by the mountains. The Apuana Riviera can host large numbers of tourists in its accomodation and bathing facilities offering any kind of entertainment: from nightclubs to sport activities as well as the simple culinary specialities which mix sea-food with typical genuine products, the rice-cake, the wine from Candia, the lard from Colonnata.

Then cultural events and performances are held: music and theatre festivals, art exhibitions, debates, popular festivals.
